ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Elections
The ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿’s democratic nature is one of its greatest strengths as a union. Elections for two opportunities for engaging as an ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ leader will be held in early 2025:
- ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of Directors election: April 23-May 1
- Idaho delegate to the National Education Association’s annual Representative Assembly election: Feb. 12-20
Nominations for both opportunities are now open. Links to required timelines, guidelines forms and other paperwork for all candidates can be found below. All completed candidate nomination paperwork for ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ elections must be emailed to ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ President Layne McInelly at lmcinelly@idahoea.org or mailed to the address at the bottom of this page.ÌýÌý
ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of DirectorsÌý
ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ members will elect 10 of their fellow members to the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of Directors during the 2025 election cycle.
The nomination deadline for candidates is Feb. 3.
The final statewide election to select board members will be held April 23-May 1. All ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ members will receive an online ballot via email.
Nominees for board seats now being accepted for April’s election include:
- NEA Director (Idaho’s representative on the NEA board)
- At-Large
- Retired
- Aspiring Educator
- Region 1 (Coeur d’Alene area)
- Region 3 (Payette/McCall/Middleton areas)
- Region 5 (Pocatello area)
- Region 7 – two seats (Boise area)
- Region 8 (Nampa/Caldwell/Mountain Home area)
- Region 9 (West Ada)

2025 Representative Assembly
Idaho will send approximately 15 statewide delegates to the 2025 NEA RA inÌýPortland, July 2-6.
The nomination deadline to serve as one of Idaho’s statewide RA representatives is Jan. 24.
The final statewide election to select delegates will be held online Feb. 12-20. All ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ members will receive an online ballot via email.
Known as , NEA’s RA gathers thousands of union members from all over the nation to set policy and chart the direction of the association.
Individual ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ locals are also eligible to send delegates to RA. Please ask your local union president to learn more about representing your local at RA.

December 9, 2024
- Nominations open for state RA delegates and ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of Directors seats
- RA resumes of candidates, RA tentative zones, and RA election timeline sent to all LUPs, region presidents, ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ BOD and region directors via emailÌý
- Electronic resumes of candidates posted to ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ website for online submission
- ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ nomination form, exhibit K, board roles and responsibilities, and board code of ethics sent to all LUPs, region presidents, ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ BOD and region directors via email (re: ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of Directors seats)

- Deadline for submission of state RA resume of candidate forms

- Deadline for submission of constitution and bylaw amendments to the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of Directors for review

- ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Board of Directors will review and approve RA candidate list and finalized RA zones based on January 15 membership numbers
